Request to relax visa application process

Environment Deputy Minister Abdul Cader has requested Indian High Commission officials in Colombo to relax the visa application process for Sri Lankan nationals who have formerly visited the country.

Cader said that his request was positively received and the Indian officials had agreed to look into the matter. “During a recent discussion, I pointed out that this would help a large number of Sri Lankans’ who visit India often on pilgrimage, tourist purposes and for other necessities” he said. “I pointed out that as the Indian authorities already possess the information of those who have visited earlier, there was no need to produce the same documents again” he added.
