ANCL Amadahara Vesak Zone lantern contest winners


The winners of the 22nd annual Vesak lantern competition of the Amadahara Vesak Sadaham Kalapaya organized by the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd. (Lake House) with the sponsorship of Sri Lanka Telecom and TV and FM Derana received their cash prizes and certificates from Parlimentarian Manusha Nanayakkara. The third day of the 22nd Amadahara Vesak Zone organised annually by the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd (ANCL) was illuminated yesterday by Parlimentarian Manusha Nanayakkara.

The illumination ceremony was graced by ANCL Editorial Director Seelaratne Senarath, ANCL Director Operations Upul Dissanayake and Sri Lankan Telecom Deputy General Manager Nilanthi Jayakody.

Sri Lanka Telecom has been extending its patronage as the main sponsor. Derana Media Oraganisation is the electronic media sponsor which broadcasts the proceedings live.

The winners of the 22nd annual Lake House Vesak Lantern competition of the Amadahara Vesak Sadaham Kalapaya were chosen yesterday.

W. Susantha Jayathilaka of Narahenpita won first place for his creation. Susantha’s creation won first place among 60 competitors from various parts of the country.

He received a cash prize of Rs. 250,000.

The second prize which was a cash award of Rs. 150,000 was won by Nihal Piyasiri Alahakoon of Uswetakeiyawa while H.P. Madushanka of Mattakkuliya received the third place with a cash prize of Rs.100.000. All other competitors who secured places from four to ten were awarded certificates and cash prize of Rs 15.000 each. In addition, all competitors were awarded certificates and cash prizes for their participation.
