Singer Sri Lanka revenue grows by over Rs. 1 b in first quarter

The Singer Group with revenues of Rs. 6.2 Billion for the first quarter of 2012, expressed confidence in its continued growth. The growth was on top of very high growth in prior year. Noting that group revenue rose by Rs. 1.1 Billion in absolute terms and by 22% in percentage terms over the first quarter of the previous year, Singer Sri Lanka Group CEO, Asoka Pieris stated that the organization's performance was despite the fact that consumer sentiments were affected by the rupee's devaluation and sharp increase in electricity and fuel costs.

SriLankan Airlines opens in Jaffna

SriLankan Airlines expands its operations in the North of Sri Lanka, opening its Sales Office in the heart of the Jaffna Peninsular. The branch office will facilitate travel formalities to a large clientele in the Jaffna and Kilinochchi areas, being fully equipped to handle reservations, ticketing, Prepaid Ticket Advices (PTAs), requests for special services, information on fares, schedules and packages - essentially offering the same sales activity carried out by any city office of the airline.

‘February Exports jump shows positive revival’

February 2012’a exports earnings show our export lull in January to be only temporary. “The February increase in exports by 7.6% shows the positive reversal of our exports from that of January. It also shows that the January lull is a mere passing cloud which has now cleared” said Rishad Bathiudeen, Minister of Industry and Commerce of Sri Lanka.
