Lumbini tame Carey College 17-3

Lumbini Maha Vidyalaya beat Carey College 17 (One goal and two tries) points to 3 (one penalty) in the Singer Schools Under 20 League Division one segment "B" match played at Air Force Grounds Ratmalana yesterday.

Carey College opened their account with a fine penalty by Rifan Akram. But they were unable to maintain the rhythm of the match. Their opponents started to score two tries with the help of Ashan Prarthana. Lahiru Priyankara converted Prarthana's second try. The score was 12 (try and a goal) - 3 at the first half with Lumbini hanging on to the lead.

Lumbini College were in a strong position in their second half too, not allowing their opponents to score a single point. Lumbini's Full Back Lahiru Priyankara scored a try again for his alma mater to lift the Lumbini total to 17 points.

Lumbini will meet Dharmaraja College on May 12 at 4.30 p.m. in Kandy. Preethi Kumara refereed.
