Easy victories for four teams in MCA 'F' division

Amana Takaful Insurance, People's Leasing PlC., Emerchemie and The Finance PLC posted vital wins in the last of their league round matches to join the top 16 teams in the knock-out round, in the ongoing third D. Samson & Sons (Pvt) Ltd., sponsored, 'Avi' trophy. MCA 'F' division 30 overs league tournament, continued last week-end.

Debutants, Amana Takaful Insurance managed a heart stopping, one wicket win, with one-ball to spare over LOLC, to finishing second in Group 'D'

People's Leasing PLC, raised to a nine-wicket win over Galadari Hotel, scoring 72 runs in 4.4 overs to propel their net-run-rate and finish on top of Group 'A'.Praneeth de Mel with a fine double (31 runs, 3 for 7 in 6 overs) spear headed Emerchemie to a 36 runs win over The Finance Co. to finish on top of Group 'F'.

The Finance Co engaged in a double-header came back strongly on the second day to beat Hilton Colombo by 49 runs, to qualify from group 'F'.

E-Wis scored their fifth successive win beating debutants, Lanka IOC by eight wickets to finish unbeaten on top of group 'E'.

MAS Active 'B' (group 'B') and Ceylinco Insurance (group 'D') were the other two teams to remain unbeaten in the league stage.

Week end's match results:

At MCA: Emerchemie beat The Finance PLC by 36 runs.

Emerchemie - 91 (28.5) (P. de Mel 31, R. Sandaruwan 2 for 15, A. Dilruk 2 for 10).

The Finance - 55 (23.1) ( H. Wickramasinghe 2 for 9, P. de Mel 3 for 7)

At MCA: Virtusa beat Citi Bank NA by 43 runs.

Virtusa 163/8 (30.0) (N. Tharanga 56, Manoj Kumara 45, Dilruk Galagoda 5 for 40).

Citi Bank NA: 120 (27.3) (G. Ratnayake 35, R. Perera 2 for 14, J. Carvalho 3 for 20, Manoj Kumara 2 for 15).

At Thurstan: Bodyline vs Regnis Lanka was abandoned without a ball being bowled, due to water logged ground.

At Thurstan: Amana Takaful Insurance beat LOLC by one wicket.

At St. John's Panadura: Singer 'B' beat WNS Global by 20 runs.

At St. John's Panadura: Peoples Leasing beat Galadari Hotel by nine wickets.

PLC - 72 for 1 (4.4) ( A.H. Krishantha 21, K.D. Sandaruwan 28 not out)

At POW, Moratuwa: Ceylon Agro Industries vs Lanka IOC and Ceylinco Insurance vs Citi Bank NA were abandoned without a ball being bowled, due to water logged ground.
