SriLankan Airlines reached a significant milestone in its MRO (Maintenance -Repair Overhaul) activities when its maintenance arm performed the 50th "C" Check on IndiGo Airlines aircraft,India's largest low-fare carrier.

SriLankan Engineering has been continuously gaining a reputation as a reliable service provider in aircraft maintenance in the region. Indigo Airlines has been using SriLankan's MRO organization since 2009 and the 50th IndiGo aircraft completed its "C" Check on an A320-214 fitted with an IAE V2500 engine. The check included system tests, inspections and servicing as required by the manufacturer and authorities to be performed every 24 months.

SriLankan's Head of Engineering, Priyantha Rose said, "IndiGo has built its reputation on the condition and appearance of its aircraft which is reflective of our engineering mintenance team's skills in complex system maintenance, cabin refurbishment, aircraft painting, interior and exterior cleaning etc."

"Along with the "C" Check, most operators, including IndiGo, take the opportunity to upgrade the condition of their aircraft through modifications. Some modifications which affect aircraft airworthiness and safety are mandatory. Other modifications which improve reliability or reduce operating costs are optional," he said.

SriLankan Engineering which is fast gaining a reputation as a reliable Maintenance - Repair Overhaul (MRO) organisation in the region for its superior quality of work, also fulfills the maintenance needs of its own all-Airbus fleet with well experienced, talented and qualified aircraft engineers and technicians. SriLankan Engineering has also carried out major maintenance activities on aircraft of other regional carriers such as Pakistan's Airblue and India's GoAir, as well as routine work on aircraft of several airlines that operate to BIA.

SriLankan Engineering has the prestigious EASA 145 certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency, and also holds awards for Best Global Operator of both A330 and A340 aircraft from Airbus Industries, in the small airline category.

SriLankan Airlines today boasts of being a provider of comprehensive aircraft maintenance services in the region, under approval from Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAA-SL), the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and several other National Aviation Authorities (NAAs).
