Dengue threat at Madampe hospital

Four workers of the Madampe Hospital suspected of contracting dengue have been hospitalised. Public Health Inspectors said the workers had got infected by dengue at the hospital.


Reservoirs not at spill level

There is no threat of reservoirs overflowing despite the rainy weather the country is currently experiencing, Irrigation Director General G G A Godaliyadda said.

There are 69 major reservoirs and 119 smaller ones in the country. None of these has reached spill level so far, he said.


Mahaweli 'H' Zone to cultivate 20,000 hectare of paddy

The Mahaweli 'H' Zone has decided to cultivate 20,000 hectare of paddy and agricultural crops for the Yala season in Galnewa, Megalewa, Eppawala and Thambuttegama.

The Mahaweli 'H' Project Manager W. Sirisena, told the media that they had supplied quality seeds, agro chemicals and fertilizer to improve the living standards of the farmers around Mahaweli 'H' Zone.

In addition, they have planned to develop homegardens to meet the requirements of food crops for domestic consumption.
