WCIC invites women to take on entrepreneurship

The Women's Chamber of Industry and Commerce (WCIC) invites women
entrepreneurs of Sri Lanka to participate at the Women Entrepreneur of
the Year 2012 which will be held for the eighth time on July 15 at the
Cinnamon Grand Hotel Colombo.
WCIC Chairperson Vidyani Hettigoda said the WCIC recognizes women
entrepreneurs every other year to motivate and encourage Sri Lankan
women to become entrepreneurs even in a small way.
This year women will be recognized in four categories as micro,
small, medium and large. It is not necessary to have business
registration for those who apply for the micro category. But they should
have an annual turnover upto Rs one million.
The small category requires an annual turnover of Rs one million to
12 million and the medium category Rs12 million to 25 million. The large
category requires a turnover of Rs 25 million and above. The WCIC being
the only Women's Chamber for many years, attracted successful business
and professional women to compete for these prestigious awards.
The applications will be evaluated by a panel of judges from
prestigious organizations from private and public sector institutions.
The applicants should have a minimum of 3 years in Business and should
be in business presently. In the case of partnership or private company,
the applicant should be the initiator of the business.
Additional information may be included in a one page note along with
product brochures, company brochures, photographs, CDs or any other
promotional material in support of the application.
Application without business registration, audit certification, bank
statement where relevant will be rejected.
