Major Gen. Srinath wins Captain’s Cup

During this festival season the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club show an exodus crowd of golfers drawn into this Holiday Resort including foreigners and locals where a number of Golf Events were conducted off.

The President of the Club Vernon Tissera and the young and energetic Secretary Rienzie Perera and other officials made all arrangements, towards keeping the 90 acre Golf Course in splendid conditions.

In his short address the President of the club recalld that this Club which is 122 years old has maintained its glory and will continue to do so.

The following events were worked off and the results were as follows:

Captain's Cup – Winner – Maj. Gen. Srinath Rajapakse – score 71 net

Runner up – Priath Fernando score 73 net

President's Prize-winner – Sunil Udalagama – score 71 net

Runner up – Dr. J. Gallangoda – score 72 net

A. R. Aitken Cup – Winner – Maj. Gen. Srinath Rajapakse – Gross 171

Runner-up – R. J. Perera – Gross 179

Carmart Golf Tournament – Winner – Dr. J. Gallangoda – 38 points (Stableford), 1st runner up – Rohith Silva 37 points, 2nd Runner up – Mr. G. Wickramasinghe 35 points.
