Trishaw driver dies in accident

A Potuwila-bound lorry collided head on with a three wheeler killing the trishaw driver at 22nd mile post, Sirigala in Moneragala on Friday.

The deceased, D. M. Ariyawansa Bandara, 55, a resident of Sirigala, Monaragala succumbed to his injuries on admission to the Moneragala Base Hospital .

The alleged lorry driver was arrested by the Moneragala Police, who are conducting investigations.


Blood pressure gauge installation in Colombo today

The first stage of the countrywide blood pressure monitor installation programme will commence today from the Colombo district.

The Health Ministry has launched a programme to set up digital blood pressure apparatus at several public locations in the country on Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena's directions.

Digital blood pressure apparatus are to be set up at the Health Ministry canteen, National Eye Hospital in Colombo, State Pharmaceutical Corporation, Heart Diseases and Tuberculosis Unit in Borella and the Bank of Ceylon headoffice in Colombo, Fort.
