Navy assists in successful conduct of Hindu temple festival

The Eastern Naval Command of the Sri Lanka Navy assisted in the
successful conduct of the annual festival of the Thiru Koneshwaram
Temple in Trincomalee, held from April 05 to 22.
The special event of the festival was the statue of Lord Koneshwaram
being taken around the ‘Swami Rock’ (flag staff) by sea which ended at
the beach opposite the Trincomalee Urban Council building where devotees
worshipped and received the blessings of Lord Koneshwaram.
Sri Lanka Navy provided its landing craft L820 for the sacred event.
Eastern Naval Area Commander Rear Admiral J. S. K. Colombage also
attended the final day of the event and received the blessings of Lord
Koneshwaram. Thiru Koneshwaram Temple Administrative Council Secretary
Arul Subramanium thanked the Navy for providing the naval craft for the
main event.
He expressed satisfaction at the successful conclusion of the annual
festival with all the rituals being fulfilled in accordance with the
traditions involved, due to the Navy’s generous assistance. |
