The story surrounds three families, a feudal class family, a
prominent business class family and a poor family living in a village.
It all begins when Devinda Denipitiya a member from the feudal class
family returns home after completing his Engineering studies abroad and
a welcome party is arranged dedicating to his arrival.
Devinda is already engaged to the only daughter of the equally
prominent Ranaweera family Kishani Ranaweera. Being family friends the
engagement was arranged in favour by the parents. However on that
celebrative day everything changes when Devinda lays eye upon Namalee
and falls in love at first sight. Namalee is the daughter of the maid
Hemalatha and awaits her A-L results with high hopes of entering the
University.
Christy has been working in the field of creative arts for nearly 30
years as a writer, dramatist, scriptwriter, filmmaker and a TV director.
He entered the world of cinema in 1981 through the film ‘Palangetiyo’
(Fireflies) as the Assistant Director under veteran film director
Wasantha Obeysekara.
For the film ‘The Hunt’ (Dadayama) as the co-script writer won him
the prestigious Presidential Award in 1984. Following the movies he
worked 10 years as an Assistant Director under several veterans such as
Titus Thotawaththa, H. D. Premarathne and Malani Fonseka.
Since then he has been working as an independent director. To-date he
has created three feature films, 17 serialized TV dramas, 12 one act TV
dramas, four semi-documentary, over 50 TV documentaries and many TV
commercials.
He has followed several courses in the fields of cinema, television
and stage drama under distinguished professionals and veterans both
local and international. |
