Divi Neguma third phase launched in Anuradhapura

The third phase of “Divi Neguma” the government's islandwide home
gardening food drive campaign was inaugurated on a grand scale in the
Anuradhapura district at the level of 22 Divisional Secretariat
Divisions recently.
Agrarian Services Minister S.M. Chandrasena who was, the chief Guest
at the district's main “Divi Neguma” ceremony held in the
Diganhalmillewa village in the Kahatagasdigiliya DS jurisdiction
emphasized that on the basis of a house to house survey completed under
the third phase of “Divi Neguma” the individual and collective
requirements of the “Divi Neguma” campaigners would be looked into and
fulfilled, for the betterment of their livelihood and also the future
success of the Divi Neguma programme.
Minister Chandrasena distributed seeds, saplings, chicks,
agricultural appliances among the “Divi Neguma” home gardeners at the
ceremony. He inaugurated the third phase by planting a mango sapling at
the auspicious time of 9.10 a.m.
Divi Neguma needed to be converted to the lifeline of the farmers
community. The government has been engaged dedicatedly in the task of
winning the agricultural war with the whole hearted support of people,
as it won the war against the brutal terrorism.
Government is heavily depending with utmost confidence, on ‘Divi
Neguma’ facilitators as well as the grass roots level officers such as
Grama Niladari officers, Samurdhi Officers, Agriculture research and
production officers in achievening the objectives of the ‘Divi Neguma’
and that should not be betrayed Chandrasena emphasized further.
The Minister appealed to the villagers to get the maximum benefit of
the facilities being extended by the government for uplifting the
agriculture sector and contribute to the endeavors meant for increasing
the productivity. |
