Sri Lanka to take on India in carrom test series

Carrom Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL) has announced the local
contingent for the Indo-Sri Lanka Carrom Test Series which is to be
worked off from April 16 to 20 in Sri Lanka. The tournament will include
three test matches which are scheduled to be played at three different
venues in Panadura, Maharagama and Colombo.
Sri Lanka will compete with eight-member team including four players
in each men's and women's category.
The tournament has a history of more than 50 years as it continued to
play biannually on a reciprocal basis in each country since 1957. Except
for few years where the tournament was abandoned due to various reasons,
the matches were played continuesly. The test matches between India and
Sri Lanka have helped to develop the sport in both countries as it gave
an opportunity to both Indian and local Slicers to compete and learn
from each other while weighing their skills and dexterity. It is
important for both countries to gauge their standard of play and impart
and improve their knowledge of the game of carrom.
CFSL will host the test series this year and the Indian carrom team
will arrive in Sri Lanka on April 15. Although these matches were
scheduled to be played in March, CFSL compelled to postpone them to
April on a request made by the Indian counterparts, the All India Carrom
Federation.
The first match will be played on April 16 at the River View Hotel,
Panadura and the second will be worked off at the CFSL head quarters,
Maharagama on April 18. The final match will be held at the Colombo
Hilton hotel on April 20. The matches will start at 3pm on all three
days.
