organised by the Seva Vanitha Unit of the Sri Lanka Navy at the SLNS
Gemunu was opened by Defence Ministry Seva Vanitha Unit Chairperson
Ayoma Rajapaksa on April 7.
All kinds of consumer commodities including raw food items, clothes,
electrical appliances and kitchen utensils were available at reduced
prices with free transportation.
Utilizing the convenience offered, Sri Lanka Navy personnel, their
family members and civilians came in large numbers to make their New
Year purchases.
A well-attended New Year festival was also held at the venue. There
were traditional games and other activities to entertain visitors. The
event concluded with a musical show presented by the Navy Band.
The New Year trade fair is one of the many programmes organised by
the Navy Seva Vanitha Unit for the benefit of Naval personnel and their
families. The profit received is channeled for the welfare of Naval
personnel killed and wounded during the humanitarian operation.
