Battle of the Golds limited overs encounter today:
DSSC, Mahanama meet for sixth time

D.S.Senanayake College and Mahanama College will meet again, this
time in the shorter version of the game when their annual Battle of The
Golds limited-over match which will be played for the sixth consecutive
year tomorrow at the SSC Grounds and it is going to be a thrilling
experience for both schools.
The history of their one day match goes back to 2007. D.S.Senanyake
College is in the lead of the limited overs series, having won in 2007,
2009 and 2011. Mahanama College were the winners in 2008 and 2010.
The Mahanama side is led by fourth year player Duleeka Thissakuttige,
a left hand batsman who passed his 1000th run mark for the season in
their big match played at SSC.
Being the highest scorer of the team, his reliable player to the
team. And he gets the assistance of Chathura Wanniarachchi, who is
another talented player and the Vice Captain of the side.
Other than those two, Pawan Devinda, Janaka Dayananda, Nayana Prabath
will contribute the side with their superb performances.
D.S.Senanayake College also having a powerful one day squad which
will be playing under the captaincy of Lasitha Abeyratne. He hammered a
mammoth total of 817 runs in 18 matches including a half century and
five half centuries in 18 matches. The vice captain of the side, Saveen
Sanoj also supports the side with his attractive performances in both
batting and bowling.
A tough battle can be expected but one of these challenging teams
will grab trophy according to the way the game goes on. |
