Team Exide hoping to give their best

The misty hills in Diyatalawa will reverberate to the roar of engines when the 20th Fox Hill Super Cross will be held at the home of the Sri Lanka Military Academy on April 21.

More than 200 drivers and riders will vie for honours, including the creme of Sri Lanka's motor racers and few international riders and drivers who will also be seen in contest, hoping to give the maximum thrill to more than 50,000 spectators who are expected to be present at this beautiful venue at the Sri Lanka Military Academy. Team Exide will field a strong contingent at Fox Hill Supercross, spearheaded by the former SLARDAR champion Aravinda Premadasa.

Premadasa, the champion driver at Fox Hill super cross in 10 occasions, will be looking forward to reclaim his crown in the SLGT 3500cc category, which would be the most entertaining event at any motor racing event.

However, Premadasa could not shine in this year's SLARDAR events due to mechanical problems.

Shehan C Adhikari, Team Exide's biggest asset on the two-wheel events, who is probably the most brilliant up and coming star on motor bikes, will be another force to be reckoned with. Still getting used to his new 250 cc bike, Adhikari is expected to entertain the crowd at Fox Hill.

At the recently concluded Sigiriya Rally cross, he won the 125cc event and was placed second and third in the 250cc event's first and second races respectively. At the biker-friendly Vijayabahu Motorcross he won the 125cc event while placing third and second respectively in the two 250cc events and managed to end the Open event with a podium finish. WMK Wickramasinghe, the veteran driver who competes in the mini1000cc event will also give his best. So far, he has done a good job behind the wheels, with a second place at the Carlton Supercorss in his Mini7. He was placed third at the Sigiriya Rally cross and Eliyakanda hill climb.

Chaminda Weerasooriya who has won on a number of occasions in the Ford Lazer /Mazda 1500CC events, is a former national champion in Ford Lazer/Mazda 1500CC category.

He has been quite successful this year, being placed second in the Ford Lazer Mazda 1500cc events at Sigiriya Supercorss, Pannala Circuit meet first stage and Sigiriya Supercorss

Rider Sampath Kumara has dominated the Street Trial Open event at almost all of his appearances, winnings at the Carlton Supercorss, Sigiriya Rallycross and Vijayabahu Motor cross.

The team championship has been introduced to this year's SLARDAR championship, Team Exide will be a tough opponent to any team which vie for honours. CW
