Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa visited the house construction
sites of the Urban Development Authority conducted under his guidance.
Under the first phase of this massive construction project, the
construction of 9,800 houses has been started at the Wanathamulla,
Maligawatta, Mayura Place, Dematagoda, Henamulla, Sri Panngananda Road.,
Syril C. Perera Mawatha, Sirimavo Bandaranaike Mawatha., Salamulla and
Kolonnawa areas. This project is aimed at resettling and facilitating
68,000 low income families of Colombo suburbs.
The construction sites were visited by Defence Ministry and Urban
Development Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa on April 4 to inspect the
progress of construction. The constructions of the Dematagoda housing
complex which consists with 500 houses will be completed in April 2013
and the other housing schemes will be completed at the end of year 2013.
The Defence Secretary spoke with the local and foreign contractors
regarding their day today requirements. The Defence Secretary gave
instructions to every person who is involved with the constructions to
complete the project to achieve the target of the Urban Development
Authority.
Urban Development Authority Chairman Nimal Perera, Director General
(Acting) Nihal Fernando, Additional Director General Brigadier Samantha
Jayasundara and the Urban Development Authority officials participated. |
