Sun directly over Sri Lanka

The sun is moving directly over Sri Lanka from April 5 to 14, due to the apparent northward relative motion of the sun, Meteorology Department Duty Forecaster P G Yasaratne told the Daily News yesterday.

He said towns in Sri Lanka where the sun was directly overhead at 12.14 noon yesterday

were Kandegoda, Middeniya and Weerawila. The sun would be directly overhead Waskaduwa, Pelmadulla and Okanda at 12.14 noon today.

Meanwhile, the Met Department also requested the public to take adequate precautions to minimize the damages caused by lightning activities. It predicted that showers or thundershowers would develop over most parts of the island during the afternoon and night today. It also stated that there might be temporary localized fairly strong winds during thundershowers.
