President launches Divi Neguma third phase

President Mahinda Rajapaksa planted a murunga sapling at the
auspicious time of 9.10am to mark the inaugural ceremony of Divi Neguma
third phase, Economic Development Ministry Additional Secretary R R K A
Ranawaka said.
The inaugural ceremony of the Divi Neguma third space programme was
held at temple Trees under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Around 2,000,000 saplings were distributed to mark the Divi Neguma
Programme.
Provincial level ceremonies were held at 42,000 places countrywide.
A Divi Neguma ceremony under the participation of Economic
Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa was held at Urapola in
Aththanagalla yesterday, he said.
Around 200,000 coconut saplings were provided among Divi Neguma
beneficiaries, he said. Apart from that, 2,000,000 fruit plants such as
Rambutan and Mangoes were distributed, he said.
Respectively 80,000 Kaju saplings, 20,000 pepper and 500,000 papaw
were distributed among Divi Neguma beneficiaries throughout the country
yesterday, he said.
Along with these activities 70,000 chicks and 60 cattle were
provided, he said. The Economic Development Ministry had taken measures
to provide 150 Coir machines in this regards.
Apart from that 150 fisheries projects were also commenced, he said. |
