Earl's Regency celebrates Avurudu

New Year is observed on April 13 and 14 every year. According the Sri
Lankan mythology, the New Year is observed when the sun moves from the
house of Meena to the house of Mesha. The celebrations of Sinhala New
Year continues until the closing of the spring season. New Year in Sri
Lanka gives the earth a chance to relive. It signifies new life to the
people as well as to the nature.
Earl's Regency Celebrates Sinhala Aluth Avuruda as a one big family
with their guests. An array of sweet aromas and flavours will flow from
Earl's Regency Kitchen, when Chef Gamunu and Chef Sugath ready in
preparing delicious avurudu kavili bona fide avurudu dishes to please
all palates of our guests.
Regency family will boil the milk with their guests at the auspicious
time to bring prosperity and good luck to the hotel and to the guests.
This Charithraya would be the main event of the hotel which will be held
in the lobby where everybody could be a part of it. Sri Lankan kavili
(sweet meat) will be served to the guests as a sign of hospitality.
At the mount batten Lounge there will be a Avurudu Kade where Sweet
meats will be available for the guest and also Yaara Tea, Beli Mal drink
with Juggery, Saruwath, Seeni bola for the kids, acharu etc. And also to
keep you entertained near the Avurudu Kade there will be lot of games
such as Carrom , cards, chess, Draft throughout the day with the ancient
game called Pancha dameema, and drawing competition for the kids.
April 13, children at Earl's Regency will be entertained with Lama
avurudu utsawaya at Children's'park. From 7.30 onwards a paduru party
will be organized for all the guests. April 14 an Avurudu Uthsavaya will
be held for the guests, with lots of fun and exciting traditional games
such as Kana Muttiya Bindeema, Tug of War, Treading the Needle, Sack
Race, Lime and Spoon Race, Searching for the Hidden guest, Bun Eating
competition, placing eye on elephant.
