Vijay Watson's inaugural Career Leadership workshop:

An outstanding success

Australia based Oceanbiz Leadership Institute's inaugural programme in Sri Lanka titled ‘Leadership of your career’ concluded on a tremendously successful note. Held in early March at the VIP Lounge, Hotel Galadari, the workshop was conducted by Vijay Watson, CEO of Oceanbiz, and drew a full house of participants from leading blue chip companies.

The workshop aimed at providing managers with insights into time trusted methods of personal development, while providing attendees with knowledge on how to progress their careers in to the next level through effective leadership. The session saw attendees from companies such as John Keells, Dialog Axiata, Mobitel, Airtel, Millennium IT, Iron One Technologies, Lanka Bell, Finlays, Kelani Valley Plantations, Metropolitan and Sierra Global.

The workshop's success was further established when it recorded an outstanding overall satisfaction of 100 percent with 79 percent indicating extreme satisfaction in an anonymous post-course survey among the participants. Proceeds from the session were donated to the Biodiversity and Elephant Conservation Trust. “This generous donation will be used to fund the school awareness programme for rural schools” said trustee Jayantha Jayewardene.

“Unless one knows where they are going themselves, it is hard for them to lead others. In this increasingly competitive world, all managers need to be great leaders. I felt that the participants gained an enormous amount of knowledge and I was able to share with the group my experiences which helped me in my own career” said Vijay Watson speaking on the session.

OceanBiz Leadership Institute is dedicated towards developing leaders, and offers a unique learning experience that is based on one-to-one coaching tailored to individual needs, which can be conducted at an office's premises or at a pre-arranged location. The next training in Colombo will be in June. More information about Oceanbiz workshops can be found at www.oceanbiz.com.au
