Korean Met Satellite to Sri Lanka
The Korean government will hand over a satellite reception and
analysis ground system for COMS (Communication, Ocean and Meteorological
Satellite) to the Meteorological Department on April 5 at 11 am at the
department.
The satellite ground system, which is a project under East Asia
Climate Partnership, costing two million US dollars was carried out as a
grant aid project by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) with
technical assistance from the Korean Meteorological Administration (KMA).
The system tailored to the needs of Sri Lanka will receive
transmissions from COMS satellite, operated by the Korea Meteorological
Administration.
Disaster Management Minister Mahinda Amaraweera and a high level team
led by the Korean Ambassador to Sri Lanka and the Administrator of the
Korea Meteorological Administration will participate. |
