Parliament to debate Geneva resolution

Party leaders have decided to hold a two day debate in Parliament over the US sponsored anti - Sri Lanka resolution recently passed at the UNHRC in Geneva.

The debate is scheduled to be held on April 3 and 4 and the government is expected to state its standpoint over the resolution. Though it had been earlier scheduled to commence Parliament after the New Year vacation on May 8, the party leaders who met yesterday morning decided that the House must meet next week to hold a two day special debate on the Geneva resolution.

The debate has been requested by DNA group leader Anura KumAara Dissanayake with other party leaders agreeing with him.
