Parliament to debate Geneva resolution

Party leaders have decided to hold a two day debate in Parliament
over the US sponsored anti - Sri Lanka resolution recently passed at the
UNHRC in Geneva.
The debate is scheduled to be held on April 3 and 4 and the
government is expected to state its standpoint over the resolution.
Though it had been earlier scheduled to commence Parliament after the
New Year vacation on May 8, the party leaders who met yesterday morning
decided that the House must meet next week to hold a two day special
debate on the Geneva resolution.
The debate has been requested by DNA group leader Anura KumAara
Dissanayake with other party leaders agreeing with him. |
