It was a run riot by Trinity College batsmen as they amassed 387 for
9 wickets in 50 overs to score an easy 203 run win over Maliyadeva
College, Kurunegala to enter the semi-finals of the schools under 19
limited over cricket tournament match for the Lemonade Trophy played at
St Anthony's College grounds, Katugastota yesterday.
This total of 387 in 50 overs may be a record total in this
tournament.
Trinity College skipper Niroshan Dickwella led the run spree with a
blistering 152 compiled in only 127 balls which had 19 fours and 3
sixes.
Niroshan Dickwella was involved in two productive century stands.
First he put on 117 for the second wicket with Dinuk Wickremanayake who
made 54 with 7 fours off 49 balls.
Next partnership was the highest in the match when Dickwella and Ron
Chandragupta 85 (1 six, 9 fours, 70 balls) were associated in a stand of
143 for the third wicket.
With these two century stands the Lions ran up a huge total which
effectively put the Devans out of the match. When Devans batted they
were never in the run chase as they had to score at eight runs per over
and they folded up for 184.
