Kithulaka Waruna-2012 Exhibition, Trade Fair

"The Kithulaka Waruna-2012" Exhibition and Trade Fair, will be held
on April 5-7 at the "Sudarshi" premises in Colombo 7.
Addressing the media yesterday at the Traditional Industries and
Small Enterprise Development Ministry, Secretary to the Ministry V.
Sivagnanasothy said that the exhibition was held annually under the
national programme for the development of Kithul products, which was
launched by the Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development
Ministry, with the objective of uplifting the indigenous Kithul products
industry.
"The Kithulaka Waruna Exhibition and Trade Fair has been designed to
facilitate market opportunities for Kithul and Palmyra treacle and
juggary and food beverages of industrialists for which there would be an
extra demand, especially during the Sinhalese and Hindu New year season
and also to facilitate opportunities for customers from Colombo and its
suburbs to buy their requirements of quality Kithul and Palmyra products
directly from producers," the Secretary said.
He also said that The Kithulaka Waruna-2012 exhibition was held in
conjunction with the inauguration of Divi Neguma-Stage 3. The main
objectives of the exhibition were to encourage Kithul and Palmyra
industrialists, to facilitate market opportunities for producers as well
as customers. The Exhibition and Trade Fair would comprise 40 trade
stalls and and would showcase Kithul and Palmyra based items such as
treacle and juggary, foods and beverages, handicraft products and wood
based products. Industrialists from various parts of the country would
be in attendance at the exhibition.
The inauguration ceremony will be held on April 5 at 4.00pm, with the
participation of Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa as Chief
Guest. Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Minister
Douglas Devananda, Deputy Minister Weerakumara Dissanayake, Ministers
and Members of Parliament would also participate at the occasion.
