Two nabbed for illegal sea cucumber transport

Naval personnel attached to the SLNS Kanchadewa of the Northern Naval Command arrested two persons near Gurunagar Jetty, who were attempting to load 370 sea cucumbers into a cab to be illegally transported.

The arrested persons with sea cucumbers were handed over to Fisheries Assistant Director in Jaffna for further investigations.

Meanwhile, Naval personnel attached to SLNS Pussadewa of the North-central Naval Command recovered explosive devices used for illegal fishing.

They seized 1.2 kilograms of Gelignite, 600 grams of C 4 explosives, 14 detonators and 10 safety fuses buried in the Kaladithivu beach.
