Now beats later.
“It is easy to procrastinate and leave good deeds undone, but such a
course will bring regrets when life is short race is run.” - Anon.
* Do it now! Today will be yesterday tomorrow.
One of major keys to your future is urgency. Urgency is a vital part
of achievement for any successful person. I have known many people who
have had great aspirations, great plans, and great goals. But, they
ended up achieving very little. The reason is that they did not put
action behind their goals. It is not enough to aspire. It is not enough
to set goals. It is not enough to make great plans. You must act.
One of the primary reasons why people do not act is because they
procrastinate. They keep putting off and putting off and putting off
until the perfect time arrives for them to take action.
The primary culprit of procrastination is a lack of urgency.
Until you feel urgency swelling up inside of you, you do not have the
motivation to take action on your plans. When you are able to create
urgency within yourself to act, you have mastered the art of being a
self-starter filled within initiative.
Procrastination is a grave crime one has to face in one’s career.
Most of the time, you make promises to yourself to stop putting things
off. If you need to achieve your goal, commitment is utmost necessary.
In procrastination is the avoidance of doing a task which needs to be
accomplished.
It is a problem that strikes millions of people in all walks of life.
It is natural to procrastinate occasionally. However, excessive
procrastination can have painful consequences and can lead to feelings
of guilt, inadequacy, depression, self-doubt, worry and anxiety.
The habit of putting things off in our country is a very common
affair among our people.
Our people prefer put things off mainly because they are lazy. If the
procrastination continues, it will be a major problem in both your
career and your personal life. Side effects of procrastination may
include missed opportunities, frenzied work hours, stress, overwhelm and
resentment.
Procrastination may at times serve as a coping mechanism to keep your
stress levels under control. This is a temporary measure.
However, this is because you have too much on your plate - you have
so many things to do and there is only so much time.
Maybe you lack discipline or time management skills and getting
organized can help you to do what you need to do or you feel overwhelmed
with the task you need to take care of because it is too challenging for
you and you don't have all the skills you need to complete it. Or maybe
it is too boring and you are not inspired and motivated to do it.
Perhaps each time you think of that task, you can think of things
that are much more fun to do. But can you imagine how good you would
feel right now if you have already done all those things you were
putting off for so long?
Whatever it is, Do It Now. If you have tried many methods for ending
procrastination and they have not worked, this column will help you to
be away of procrastination.
Reading books, making lists and studying about procrastination DOES
NOT WORK! But, you already knew that! Because you are here, still
looking for solutions.
This method is different. I know it works and I want you to find out
how easy it is to make these changes in your subconscious mind and
become a DO IT NOW person.
These changes can NOT be achieved by reading a book, creating a
system, or making a list.
These changes can be made by finding the core cause of
procrastination, self-sabotage, and even lack of motivation.
When the core causes are released and resolved, you can create
powerful programming in your subconscious mind that will push you
forward with energy and joy and focus, to get your life in order and
make you LOVE to DO IT NOW. I guarantee it.
Please refer the following commons procrastination problems that we
face when we come to do our work.
1. We get ready to do something and then we hesitate. Or else, we
stop and do something else or we do anything else. Is this sound
familiar?
2. We stop.We do something else.We do anything else.Sounds familiar?
Today, just do.
Putting it off
We often put down small tasks that should take just a minute.
The followings are common sayings we always hear. -
It will only take me a minute to put this away… I’ll do it later.
- It is a small job to clean this up… I will get it to later.
- I have to respond to this… but I will put it off.
However, when you put down a few of these tasks, they pile up
quickly. Suddenly, you have an entire garage to clean out.
Or you have an inbox with hundreds (or thousands!) of e-mails to
reply. In this event, some people say, “ I will do this later.”
This is a very bad practice. Those who succeed are the ones who just
do. Please note that it is easy to not take action.
And also, it requires discipline to do the things that are often
right in front of us. |
