Sri Lanka, Pakistan ties exemplary - HC

Pakistan yesterday said that the relationship between Sri Lanka and
Pakistan can serve as a shining example of cooperation at bilateral,
regional and international levels.

"We rejoice at the fact that the relationship between Sri Lanka and
Pakistan is one of choice and not compulsion. It can serve as a shining
example of cooperation at bilateral, regional and international levels,"
Pakistan High Commissioner Seema Ilhai Baloch said.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka continue to maintain their traditionally close
and mutually beneficial relations in all fields. The process of
bilateral cooperation has been greatly assisted by increased interaction
both at the level of people and the highest government functionaries of
the two countries, she added.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka relations date back to the formative years of
the two countries. The relationship among both these countries has
mainly based on mutual trust and mutual respect.
Ties between Pakistan and Sri Lanka should be more strengthened while
having a good understanding among each other, she said.
The High Commissioner was addressing the 73rd Pakistani National Day
celebrations at the Pakistan High Commission in Colombo. High
Commissioner Seema Ilhai hoisted the Pakistani national flag. She also
read the messages of the Pakistani President and Prime Minister.
The National Day of Pakistan is celebrated on March 23 to commemorate
the most outstanding achievement of the Muslims of South Asia who passed
the historic Pakistan Resolution on this day at Lahore in 1940 which
culminated in the creation of new country - Pakistan after seven years.
Brother Emmanuel Nicholas was awarded a medal for his services for
the development in the educational field. |
