‘Adhere to Standing Orders’

Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa yesterday, advised the Members of Parliament to adhere to Standing Orders, when they raise supplementary questions during questions for oral answers. He made this observation when UNP MP Sajith Premadasa, raised supplementary questions from Social Services Minister Feliex Perera. The Speaker also stated that the supplementary questions should be raised in connection with the matters directly involved with the answers given by the minister for the question of the member for oral answer.

MP Sajith Premadasa was raising a question in respect of financial assistance granted to the differently abled persons.

The Speaker also stated that the member who raises the question and the responding minister, should speak responsibly as there are members of the public in the gallery.
