Series of Asheervada Poojas held at Hindu Kovils

A series of Asheervada Pooja ceremonies were held in several Hindu kovils and religious places of worship countrywide yesterday morning to invoke blessings on the President, government and the people. The main pooja was held at the Shivasubramaniam Hindu Kovil, Gintupitiya, Colombo 13 organized by the Hindu Religious Affairs Department of the Ministry of Buddhasasana and Religious Affairs Ministry.

Concurrently Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne participated in a special Hindu religious ceremony held at the Gampola Sri Muththumari Amman Kovil yesterday morning praying for the dawn of lasting peace and development following the freedom inherited by Sri Lanka after a 30 year war. A press release by the Prime Minister office said Janasekaran Kurukkal of the Sri Muththumari Amman Kovil conducted the pooja attended by a large number of Hindu devotees. Chairman of the Kovil Sivan Gnanasekaran was also present on the occasion.
