Four suspected of kidnapping a businessman in Tissamaharama and demanded a Rs 3 million ransom were arrested by the Criminal Investigation Unit of Tangalle on Friday. Acting on a tip-off that a businessman in Saliyapura, Tissamaharama, had been abducted and held hostage for a ransom, the CID team from Tangalle carried out the raid and arrested two suspects.

The CID was able to trace the location where the kidnapped victim was held by two other suspects, after interrogating the two suspects.

A special police team raided the hideout and rescued the businessman.

The Police also seized a three-wheeler and a motorcycle used in the kidnapping.

The rescued businessman has been admitted to the Hambantota Hospital. Tissamaharama Police and Tangalle division Criminal Investigation Unit are investigating to arrest another suspect in connection to the incident.
