Medical Faculty Dons to assist in health sector development

An expert committee comprising doctors and professors of university
medical faculties have pledged their wholehearted support and assistance
to develop the health sector.
They made this pledge before Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena at
a special meeting held at the National Blood Bank recently.
The meeting was held to seek the assistance of university professors
and lecturers to uplift the country’s health sector,on a concept of
Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena. A number of experts representing
various sectors in the medical field participated in this meeting.
They discussed ways of using the results of medical research in a
more beneficial manner to the health service, prevention of non-
communicable diseases,exchanging ideas and experiences and utilising the
knowledge of university experts’ to solve the problems in the health
sector at the meeting. An officer from each university has been
appointed to continue the ongoing discussions while it was also decided
to appoint co-committees to pay attention to each and every field of the
health sector.
“At no time in the past did the Health Ministry decide to seek the
assistance from professors and lecturers for the betterment of the
health sector.
We will do our best for the development of the health sector in Sri
Lanka.”,the expert committee said. Health Ministry Secretary Dr.Ravindra
Ruberu, Additional Secretary Dr.Palitha Maheepala and Health Services
Director General Dr.Ajith Mendis also participated at this meeting. |
