Fairs to sell Divi Neguma products

The Economic Development Ministry will hold around 500 to 600 fairs throughout the country to sell products under the Divi Neguma programme to mark the Sinhala and Tamil New Year season, Economic Development Ministry Additional Secretary R R A K Ranawaka said.

This will be implemented as a joint programme with the Samurdhi Authority, he said.

The ministry has drawn up plans to hold weekly fairs in every Divisional Secretariat during the festive season, Ranawaka said.

The Economic Development Ministry will introduce self – employment productions under three categories under the Divi Neguma programme, he said. The fairs will be centred on small towns. Any person wishing to market their own self - employment products will receive ministry assistance to market these products, Ranawaka said.
