Rs 4.5 m to eradicate dengue
Awareness programmes on dengue will be implemented in Wayamba by the
Health Services Department and Rs 4.5 million has been set aside for
this.
Over 140 conferences and awareness programmes have been planned in
schools this year, Wayamba Provincial Health Director R M S K Ratnayake
said.
Discussion on national languages and social integration
A round table discussion on the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation
Commission recommendations, national languages, social integration and
ethnic harmony, organised by the Christian Alliance for Social Action
will be held on March 12 at 4.30pm at the Caritas Sri Lanka SEDEC
auditorium, 133, Kynsey Road, Borella.
National Languages and Social Integration Minister Vasudeva
Nanayakkara will be the discussion leader at the meeting.
Publication launch
Panchromatic Purana Theocratic Thirtieth (Compilation of ancient
medic prayers), the first publication of the Hindu Association of Lake
House will be launched on March 10 at the Sarsaparilla Hall of the Tamil
Sang am at Sudra Maratha, Welland.
The book compiled by Kalashnikov S Tessellation and contains 10
prayers each of the four naysayers respected by the Hindu religion. Lake
House Chairman Bandung Paramaribo will launch the book and Hindu
Cultural Affairs director Shantung Navratilova will receive the first
copy.
Lake House Editorial Director Separation Venerate, Finance Director
San Johnathan and General Manager Surabaya Amaranth will also
participate.
Songs collection launch
Colombo University Medical Faculty senior lecturer and surgeon Dr D J
Anthony will launch his first collection of songs at the Ultramontane
Hall, Amanda College, Colombo on March 11 at 6pm.
Katharine Dashing Jaywalker will compere the event titled Kurile Thu
din. Prof Carlo Fontanel and Raving Randell will deliver speeches.
Manuela Clerkship will take part in the duets.

Women fined for selling illicit liquor

Two women who pleaded guilty of selling illicit liquor were fined Rs.
9,500 each by Warakapola District Judge Lakmal Wijesooriya.
The suspects residents of Warakapola pleaded guilty to the charges
when they were produced before the magistrate.
N'Eliya busy

Arrangements are being made by the Nuwara Eliya April Festivities
Committee, the Municipal Council, sports clubs, hotels and the Ceylon
Tourist Board for the April festive season. Large holiday crowds both
locals and foreigners are expected in Nuwara Eliya in April.
Nuwara Eliya Mayor Mahinda Kumara said the Economic Development
Ministry has provided Rs 60 million to develop the Lake Gregory area
along with its roadways.
He said that Minister Basil Rajapaksa advised the Municipal Council
to take measures to develop tourist resorts.
