China, SL's leading development partner - Defence Secretary

Defence and Urban Development Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa who is on
an official visit to China has held several rounds of fruitful
discussions with high ranking Chinese officials on matters pertaining to
defence and development co-operation between Sri Lanka and China.
The Defence Secretary also attended a special meeting organized by
the Sri Lanka embassy in China to mark Sri Lanka's 64th Independence Day
commemoration and the completion of 55 years since the setting up of
friendly relations between Sri Lanka and China.
The Defence Secretary who was interviewed by the Sinhala Service of
the China Radio International said that China has today become Sri
Lanka's leading development partner.
Apart from helping Sri Lanka's development process. China has also
helped to improve skills among officers in the Sri Lanka security
forces. Already a batch of 64 security forces officers have received
training in China and China has agreed to increase this number to 120
this year, the Defence Secretary told the interview. |
