MLH wins Gold in the Gulf

Mount Lavinia Hotel with its ‘go for gold’ energy, inspiration and
passion indeed surfaced as the team consisting of A K Jayasekera, K C
Jayasuriya, and D S A Hettiarachchi made Sri Lanka proud by winning
gold, silver and bronze medals at Emirates Salon Culinaire global
competition.
Over 1,300 young chefs competed to become stars of the future. From
practical cooking competitions to buffet and banqueting show pieces,
chefs from across the globe showcased their talent.
The Emirates Salon Culinaire is a series of practical and
display-based culinary competitions; entry to which is open to
professional chefs, pastry chefs, cooks and bakers. Each competition is
called a ‘class’.

Each class of the various competitions is intended to test the
differing skills of entrants whilst also celebrating the preparation and
presentation of food and its accouterments in attractive and pleasing
forms.
“Competitions like this give my team a leading edge and the
experience to show off their talents that they are so passionate about.
And when they win Gold it really shows that they are simply the best,”
Anura Dewapura said.
Competitors are evaluated by a panel of 25 renowned experts, mandated
by the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS) to judge culinary
events across the globe, ensuring the highest competition standards.
The Emirates Culinary Guild (ECG) is the UAE’s association of
professional chefs.
It is a non-profit-making organisation dedicated solely to the
advancement of the culinary art of the UAE.
The WACS is a 52-nation fellowship comprising the world’s various
professional chefs’ organisations. |
