Spurned man shoots sisters

Two sisters in the Udagaldebokka area in Hasalaka were shot and one was killed while the other was critically injured yesterday. The assailant who used a shotgun escape from the area after the shooting. The victim, 41 year old, Udagedara Tikiri Menika was a resident of the area, Police said.

The dead woman's younger sister is being treated at the Mahiyanganaya base hospital. Police suspect the shooting to be a result of an illicit affair. The suspect wanted to start an affair with one of the sisters but was spurned by the woman, prompting the shooting which was an act of revenge, Police said.The suspect is evading arrest.
