Day for women to plan for future - retired director of Aesthetic
Education
Today is the day for women to plan for the future, said retired
director of Aesthetic Education Miranda Hemalatha in a message to mark
International Women's Day.
The message:Today is International Women's Day. What do we do? Is it
of any importance to us? What about the other 364 days. There are many
questions before us to think, to think very seriously.

Everything in life starts in the family. What are our duties and
rights in the family as a child, grown up girl, wife, a mother, and a
grand mother. On the day of women, we should understand our duties and
rights, and today is the day we should evaluate where we are . Have we
fulfilled our duties? Have our rights been given?.
Think seriously first about our duties. If we have performed our
duties to our best, it should give self satisfaction, pride and honour.
If the degree varies, make up your mind to do your best next year.
You must also try to win the good will of the other family members to
get your rights. Trust yourself live in a way that others also will
trust.
That will help you to solve most of your problems regarding your
rights.
We as women are also responsible for most of the family problems and
disputes.
Make it a point to find out where we have gone wrong before accusing
the others. Today is a special day for that.
Women as members of society have different roles in different levels.
Sri Lankan women have changed their behaviour, cultural values, dresses,
performing arts and many other areas not for the development of the
society but for its destruction.
Many social problems have cropped up for women due to their own
actions and reactions.
In some cases it is the women who create problems for other women.
Today is the special day not for the women's organizations to put up
thamashas and enjoy, It is the day for all women to plan for another
year to do better, based on the experiences of the previous year without
prejudices.
