Left-arm spinner Aravinda Withanarachchi (5 for 21) and off spinner
Deneth Lanka (5 for 22) helped Dharmaraja College, Kandy to dismiss
Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Pannipitiya for 59 in their schools under 19
cricket tournament match commenced at Pannipitiya yesterday. The match
will be continued today at 9.30 am.
The Rajans in reply made 218 for 4 declared after batting for 45
overs. Sixteen year old Chandimal de Silva stroked a brilliant 101 not
out with 11 fours and two sixes off 110 balls. He was associated in an
unbroken stand of 81 for the fifth wicket with skipper Nuwan Karunaratne
who made 50 not out with eight fours.
Left-arm spinner Aravinda Withanarachchi who has been bowling
extremely well this season has now captured 90 wickets.
Deneth Lanka has taken 47 wickets and this duo have borne the brunt
of the bowling.
At close the Palians had replied with 32 for 1 and they will face an
uphill task in saving the match as they still have a deficit of 127 runs
with nine wickets but will have to bat through the whole day if they are
to stop the Rajans from winning.
