Shilpa Gama popular with foreigners

Thousands of local and foreign tourists are visiting the Shilpa Gama
at Baththaramulla Janakala Kendraya premises these days, National Craft
Council spokesman said.
The National Craft Council is the operator of the Shilpa Gama.
According to the concept of National Craft Council Chairman Buddhi
Keerthisena, the Shilpa Gama was designed and established.
It is similar to the Delhi Heart marketing village with 45 outlets,
he said.
The Shilpa Gama is open from 10.00 am to 6.00 am on week days and
school children are keen on visiting this centre, he said. Bathiks,
cane, bronze and silver, work of sea shells, art, fabric paintings,
ceramic, work of reeds, wood craft, work of coconut shells handcrafts
and Ayurvedic medicines are available on sale at the Shilpa Gama , he
said.
This village showcases the skills of traditional craftsmen
countrywide. Visitors can buy products of Sri Lankan craftsmen's at
discounted prices from the Shilpa Village , he said.
