‘All should unite to defend sinister moves’

Power and Energy Minister Patali Champaka Ranawaka yesterday said
that the entire nation is to be punished by the US and the Western
countries for defeating terrorism which plagued the country for three
decades.
The minister said that the people of all communities should get
together and defeat this sinister move which is aimed at destablising
the country and the region. It is very clear that the US is going to
intervene in the internal affairs of Sri Lanka.
The US says that they want to ensure Sri Lanka’s human rights,
democracy and reconciliation. But when they intervened in Afghanistan
they said the same. But what happened to Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan.
Speaking to the Daily News Minister Ranawaka pointed out that
approximately one million civilians were killed in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Over two million migrated and became IDPs. The entire region is now
destabilized.
These countries are facing serious socio-economic and political
problems.
These countries lost stability and got destroyed because of US
intervention. Machine guns were given to Benagazi rebels by US instead
of humanitarian assistance as promised in the resolution. According to
Minister Ranawaka, now Libya is divided and an anarchist situation
prevails in the country and the Libyan President openly stated that he
cannot govern Libya and he cannot disarm the persons armed by the US.
Only now the Libyans have realized that when Qaddafi was there, at
least they had food, water and security. Now they have nothing. This
kind of thing can happen to Sri Lanka as well if this ‘human rights
crusade’ against Sri Lanka is allowed to continue.
“We have to protect our motherland and the hardly earned peace and
mostly the sacrifices made by our heroic armed forces and especially our
President who took a serious risk to defeat terrorism.
It is our moral duty to protect our Commander-in-Chief, our Head of
State who defeated terrorism because of his actions. Now he and his
entire nation is going to get punished by Western powers because of
defeating terrorism. We have to unite to defeat this intention of
western powers and we definitely will, added the minister.
