Enjoining Order against TNA, staying expulsion of MP
The Colombo District Court yesterday issued an
enjoining order preventing Tamil National Alliance parliamentarian
Perumpulli Hewage Piyasena from being expelled from the party. The
court issued this order on TNA leader and the party secretary when
the case filed by TNA parliamentarian P.H. Piyasena who challenged
the letter issued by party secretary on September 30, 2010 was taken
up.

Marine Pollution Prevention Act:
‘Regulations to prevent marine pollution in country’
Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody presided,
when Parliament met at 1 pm yesterday. After presentation of papers
and oral questions, the House took up several regulations under the
Marine Pollution Prevention Act for debate. Environment Minister
Anura Priyadarshana Yapa: These regulations under the Marine
Pollution Prevention Act were introduced with a view to preventing
marine pollution in Sri Lanka. We have already set up the Marine
Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) for this purpose.
