Maradana bomb blast site

The LTTE suicide blast at Maradana was just another one of the countless number of attacks perpetrated by the LTTE terrorists on innocent defenceless civilians Thirty people were killed and 115 injured in an LTTE suicide blast at the Maradana Railway station on March 5, 1998.

Two LTTE cadres who drove an explosive laden mini bus, blasted it opposite the railway station at around 12.30pm.

The blast occurred when the explosive laden bus was being followed by police men attached to the Traffic branch of the Maradana Police Station.

Preliminary investigations into the blast revealed that two claymore mines were fixed onto either side of the bus.

LTTE terrorists carried out a number of ruthless attacks on innocent civilians.

International organizations which appear for the protection and promotion of human rights hardly raised their voice against these attacks.
