NWP roads to be developed

The North Western Province Agriculture Ministry has taken steps to
renovate roads of rural agricultural regions of the Kurunegala and
Puttalam districts.
Accordingly, 250 roads will be restored at a cost of Rs. five million
according to the instructions of Provincial Agriculture Minister D.B.
Herath.
Many roads are dilapidated and farmers are undergoing much
inconvenience in transporting their products to urban markets. More
roads will be repaired on shramadana basis too, Herath told the Daily
News.
The aim of this project is to provide facilities to the farming
community to earn their livelihoods with ease.

The Asian Development Bank has granted Rs 8,000 million for the
reconstruction of nearly 250 kilometres of dilapidated rural roads in
the Kurunegala and Puttalam districts and work would commence in April,
Wayamba Chief Minister Athula Wijesinghe said.
Free spectacle distribution
Distribution of free spectacles among deserving people and indigenous

Garbage management under Divi Neguma

The Economic Development Ministry has drawn up plans to create
systematic home gardens countrywide, free from garbage and dengue, Divi
Neguma Programme director Jayathilake Herath said.
The ministry plans to introduce garbage management under this
programme, he said. "The ministry has directed officers visiting housing
units, to discuss owner's problems and obtain their ideas regarding this
matter," Herath said.
