Chaminda Perera
The government yesterday directed the Paddy Marketing Board (PMB) to
keep all stores open to purchase paddy from farmers and made an
additional allocation of Rs. 1200 million to expedite the purchasing
process islandwide.
Cooperatives and Internal Trade Minister Johnston Fernando made this
directive at a meeting with PMB officials at the ministry yesterday.
He instructed the officials that excess stocks of stores in the
Pollonnaruwa and Ampara districts be transferred to the paddy store
complex at Veyangoda with a view to purchasing more paddy from the two
districts. |
