Three more buses added to SEW

The National Transport Board has added three more buses to the Southern Expressway (SEW) from yesterday to meet the huge passenger demand NTC Executive Officer Jayalath Udaya Kumara said.

According to a passenger demand survey done by the NTC, there is a huge passenger demand for Expressway buses, he said. He also said that the NTC regularly conducts surveys to check the passenger demand. Though there is a huge demand for Expressway buses, there is a limitation in adding new buses. These buses were added by considering time tables and other details without disturbing other motorists using the Southern Expressway.

“A large number of complains were received from passengers as they had to wait for hours in queues at bus terminals to catch a bus on the Expressway.

These buses had been selected after calling for tenders,” the Executive Officer said. He said that there are seven private buses and eight SLTB buses deployed on the Southern Expressway.
