Vidya in a pregnant role

A scene from ‘Kahaani’

Though her ‘The Dirty Picture’ is unabashed skinfest, Vidya’s next film ‘Kahaani’ is about a pregnant woman on the lookout for her husband who’s gone missing.

Balan may be the most easily approachable person thanks to her amiable nature however it takes lot to convince the arguably numero uno actress of Bollywood when it comes to signing her for a film.

In fact even Sujoy Ghosh had to match up to Vidya's expectations to sign her for the film. Sujoy had to even redraft the script until Vidya said yes to the film.

The first look of the film ‘Kahaani’ was recently released and it has come at the right time because Vidya is riding high on buzz with her dare-bare Silk Smitha portrayal in ‘The Dirty Picture’, and her fan base has swelled like never before.

In the first look of ‘Kahaani’, Vidya is shown pregnant in the backdrop of Kolkata’s Howrah Bridge. The first look also beautifully shows the frenzy of Durga Puja in the city. Apparently, the posters of the film look quite eye-catching with Vidya looking bemused in huge baby-bump.

Produced by Ghosh, Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Pen India Private Limited, ‘Kahaani’ has been extensively shot in Kolkata, which incidentally is Vidya’s favourite city.

It may be interesting to watch Vidya in a completely different and unglamorous avatar after the Milan Luthria film releases.

The movie has music by renowned duo Vishal-Shekhar and it is cinematographer by Setu. It will be subtitled in English and unsppoling at Majestic Cineplex from March 9. ‘Kahaani’ is a CEL release and presented by Event Concept.
