Twenty hospitalised after wasp attack

Twenty persons in a tea estate in Bogawantalawa were admitted to the
Bogawantalawa Hospital after they were attacked by wasps yesterday.
More than 60 tea pluckers were attacked by wasps at Karcuswall Estate
yesterday around 9am. The condition of 20 were serious and admitted to
hospital.
Man with heroin remanded

A man arrested with 35 packets of heroin was remanded until March 7
by Horana magistrate Mahinda Ranasingha.
The suspect aged 25 is a resident of Ingiriya.
Police had arrested the suspect on a tip-off. Investigations revealed
that the suspect had been produced before court on several occasions
Bee-keeping villages to be set up

The Sainthamaruthu Agrarian Services Centre has made arrangements to
set up bee keeping villages in 5 selected Grama Niladhari divisions of
the Divisional Secretariats in Sainthamaruthu.

The 64th Annual General Meeting of the Sri Lanka Cancer Society will
be held today at 5 pm at 37/25, Bullers Lane, Colombo 7. Professor of
Surgery, University of Kelaniya Medical School, Prof K I Deen will be
the chief guest on the occasion.
Indian fishermen repatriated

Sri Lanka Navy assisted in the repatriation of 22 Indian fisherman
who were released from Sri Lankan custody recently.
Five Indian fishing trawlers bearing the registration numbers TN/10/MFB/769,
TN/10/MFB/277, TN/10/MFB/173, TN/10/MFB/1012 and TN/10/MFB/223 were also
released along with these fishermen.
Sri Lanka Navy handed these fishermen and fishing vessels over to the
Indian Coastguard officials in the seas off Thalaimannar.
