Gurukula secures third slot

Gurukula Vidyalaya, Kelaniya who participated in the Division I under 19 cricket tournament has placed third in the group and out of the 12 matches they played won seven and gained three first innings victories.

In their final game against Holy Cross College which was played at Kalutara they beat them on first innings. Batting first Gurukula made 191 with Lisula Lakshan scoring 84 runs with eight fours and three sixes.

Minura Deelaka had a fine spell of 8 for 79.

In reply homesters were skittled out for 97 runs with Nalin Perera and Dushan Danushka claiming 5 for 28 and 4 for 22 respectively.

In the second essay when rain stopped play Gurukula were 218 for 5 with Shashin Dilranga unbeaten on 86 and Nalin Perera on 65.
